WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT THROUGH SHG
Although Debasis has different idea about Micro Credit, he gives stress on Organising the disadvantaged women through SHG and their economic empowerment through need-based and market-oriented micro enterprise development by way of skill formation and post training financing. Debasis also attempts to make SHG a platform to sensitise socially-excluded women for orientation of their rights, gender justice and ending all forms of gender related violence against women.
In different times different projects were sanctioned by different funding agencies. In 2001- 2002 Debasis formulated a project for Economic Empowerment of Disadvantaged Tribal Women in West Dinajpur District in West Bengal. This project was sanctioned by Catholic Movement Of Women, Austria after Mrs Barbara Prietlar, the representative of the funding agency visited tribal areas in Gazol Block in West Dinajpur district accompanied by Debasis.
